Amid low stockpiles and a fast-ascending Indonesian coal index, 5,000 t of 4200 GAR coal was sold at INR 8,400/t at Tuticorin compared to INR 7,700/t on 29 Sept’21. Expectations of a further rise in imported coal prices and acute domestic coal shortage have compelled coal-consuming sectors to procure material at higher prices. Vessel arrivals from Indonesia also remained limited amid heavy rains.
