Australian premium hard coking coal prices increased $5/t to $258/t FoB on 31 Aug’21 on the back of robust buying interest in the ex-China market coupled with continuing availability concerns. Coking coal prices kept rising in the China market on limited spot availability of imported cargoes, while the domestic supply situation remains relatively tight. Meanwhile, Mongolian coal supply to China resumed across the Ganqimaodu border, which was temporarily shut since 23 Aug following COVID containment measures.
