Global Pig iron output rise 3.5% in April '13

Worldwide Pig iron production in April this year witnessed an increase of 3.5% Y-o-Y and a drop of 2.15% M-o-M, which comes to a total of 98.25 MnMT.

In January to April, a total of 389.1 MnMT of Pig iron was produced, an increase of 4.6% Y-o-Y.

Contribution (in MnMT) from few of the countries along with figures stating a Y-o-Y rise:

India 4.1 (11.1%)

Asia 75.8 (5.9%)

China 60.7 (6.8%)

Japan 6.8 (1.7%)

– World Steel Association preliminary data covering 38 countries accounting for about 9% of total blast furnace Pig iron output.
