Pakistan: Ferrous scrap import prices decline in recent deals

Pakistan’s import prices of ferrous scrap have declined further, as per sources. Scrap import prices have been dropping since the beginning of this week.

  • SteelMint’s bi-weekly assessment for containerised shredded scrap stands at $530-535/t CFR Port Qasim, down by $5-10/t compared to the previous assessment on 3 Aug’21.
  • US-origin shredded material is being offered at $530/t CFR, while buyers are hesitant to buy at the moment.
  • Deals for 2,000 t of containerised UK-origin shredded material for the high seas were heard at $525-530/t CFR recently.
  • The market is drifting down and traders are expecting a price correction in the short term, SteelMint understands.
