Indian mills churned out 27.724 mn t of crude steel in the Apr-Jun ’21 period, up 61% as against 17.263 mn t in the same period last year, as per provisional data released by the government’s Joint Plant Committee (JPC) on 5 Jun ’21.
Increased capacity utilisation rates along with healthy export orders, especially from the European Union and the Gulf countries, resulted in increased production.
