Japan: Ferro silicon imports fall by over 44% in May’21

According to customs data, Japan’s ferro silicon imports had gradually increased since Jan’21 but declined significantly by 44.7% m-o-m in May. Supply shortfall due to lower production in Russia and Malaysia coupled with higher global ferro silicon prices was the main reason for the decline in imports by Japan in May compared to April.
