A large proportion of South African coal at Haldia Port had been sold off in the absence of any vessel arrival amid escalated freight rates for supramax vessels. The scant quantity available is being offered at INR 9,700/t. Sponge iron units around the port are heard to be purchasing either domestic coal or imported coal from Dhamra Port where prices are assessed at around INR 8,200/t (excluding cess and GST), market sources informed.
