As per reports, 4,000 t of South African RB2 (5,500 NAR) grade coal was sold at INR 7,900/t, ex-Vizag, on 28 Jun’21, while offers from a few direct importers remained elevated at INR 8,100-8,200/t. Amid limited enquiries, portside trade of RB2 coal at Gangavaram remained muted, with domestic sponge iron producers waiting for SECL’s 1.2 mn t coal auction slated for 29 Jun. Elevated coal import prices over the last two months has compelled several end-users to switch to domestic coal.
