Offers for 5500 NAR grade thermal coal in China have touched RMB 1,000/t (154/t) after a span of five months, as per latest reports. In the third week of Jan’21, offers had reached RMB 990/t amid acute coal shortage during the winter season. With surging demand during the summer season, coal supply is expected to shrink in late-Jun, as many coal mines have been asked to suspend operations due to ongoing safety inspections.
