One of South Asia’s leading ferrous scrap importers, Pakistan witnessed a straight 16% drop in monthly scrap imports in May’21, as per latest data compiled by SteelMint stats. The neighbouring country’s scrap imports were reported at 0.27 mn t in May’21 against 0.32 mn t in the previous month. Pakistani steel mills postponed scrap purchases due to adequate inventories and limited working days in the month on account of Ramadan.
