Per Capita Steel Consumption in 2020 (in kilogram)

As per the latest report of the World Steel Association (worldsteel), South Korea reported the highest per capita steel consumption (apparent steel use) at 954.9 kg in 2020. China, the world’s largest producer of steel, is in second position at 691.3 kg (Taiwan, China at 777 kg). Japan is in the third spot with 415.7 kg.

India, which is the second-largest crude steel-producer in the world, reported a per capita steel consumption of 64.2kg in 2020. This has gone down from 74.7 kg in 2019. India’s per capita steel consumption is already far below the level of other developed and developing countries.
