Vietnam’s leading steelmaker Hoa Phat has recently acquired the Roper Valley iron ore project in Australia taking the first step towards securing the company’s raw material supplies. According to a statement, the project is estimated to have 320 mn t of reserves including mining capacity at 4 mn t per year. Also, the company is planning to purchase more coking coal mines and iron ore projects to accomplish half of its demand from steel operations of 10 mn t per annum.
