Major CIS steel producer Ukraine churned out 7.138 mn t of steel in Jan-Apr ’21- 7.2% higher compared to same period last year, data provided by the country’s steel producers’ association, Ukrmetalurgprom, reveals. The total production of rolled steel during the period has been recorded at over 6 mn t, while pig iron production was at 7.07 mn t- an increase of 9.1% y-o-y. Ukraine’s steel production stood at 20.549 mn t in 2020- down by 1.4% vis-a-vis 2019.
