The FoB price of Australian premium hard coking coal surged by another $3.50/t to $125/t on 19 May’21 on the back of increased spot volatility in ex-China markets. However, near-term demand outlook for Australian coking coal from Indian buyers appears bleak given the fact that the resurgent pandemic could well affect India’s steel production in the current quarter, CoalMint notes.
