India: JSPL aims to export 35% of total production in FY22

Integrated steel producer JSPL aims to reserve about 35% of its total production for exports in FY22 versus 2.5 mn t in FY’21, Managing Director of the company V.R. Sharma informed recently. The steel-maker exported 35% of its total sales of 7.28 mn t in FY21 compared to just 13% of export sales in the preceding fiscal. Almost $17 trillion of stimulus packages announced by governments worldwide is boosting steel demand and prices in the US, EU and China are higher compared to domestic steel prices, Sharma noted. Thus, higher export realisations are an incentive for leading steel producers.
