BHP Group’s iron ore production from Western Australia iron ore (WAIO) operations was recorded at 66.7 mn t (100% basis) in Q1 CY21. The output fell by 2% on y-o-y basis. Lower volumes at WAIO reflect weather impacts and planned Ore Handling Plant and stacker maintenance at Newman. Iron ore production guidance for the 2021 financial year remains unchanged at between 276 and 286 mn t on 100% basis. Volumes are expected to be in the upper half of the guidance range as a result of strong performance at WAIO.
