China: Ferrous scrap imports climb sharply after easing of restrictions

China recorded a ferrous import volume of 3,046 t in Feb’21, as per data maintained with SteelMint. South Korea, Japan and Taiwan remained the prominent suppliers to China in Feb’21. Imports have sharply picked up on yearly basis after China lifted the restriction on imports of fewer grades of ferrous scrap earlier this year with motive of tapping the scrap resources it may lower the country’s dependence on iron ore imports.
