Indian chrome ore dispatches increased by 29% m-o-m in Jan ’21 in line with surging ferrochrome prices that started escalating since mid-Jan. This prompted an increase in production leading to increased dispatches of Chrome ore.
OMC remained the largest supplier of chrome ore with 150,839 t dispatched. Meanwhile, dispatches from TATA Steel also increased by a whopping 85% to 72,088 t in Jan ’21.
Major Buyers:
IMFA, Jindal Stainless, Visa Steel and Jai Balaji Industries were the four major buyers in Jan ’21.
Prices of chrome ore in Jan ’21 increased by 16% m-o-m owing to a bullish ferrochrome market. In the meantime, the availability of chrome ore also eased up as TATA steel also dispatched significant volumes of chrome ore to smelters with no captive mines.
