In context to the falling Rupee, imported coal prices has been affected a little. Indonesian imported low grade coal price changed in range of $0.50 -$1 per MT. While high grade coal prices remain unchanged from US, South Africa and Australia due to the restocking by the importer before monsoon demand picks up.
SteelMint learned from one of the leading traders that, 'Australian coal 6000 NAR has been sold at FOB $87/MT to Indian importer, quantity is not confirmed.' The trade price is higher by 1$ from last week trade price. He also said, 'Many private power unit a month ago opened the tender to supply imported coal. And so most of the upcoming coal is the supply, against the same tenders'. Whereas, open sale from ex plot is constant.
With monsoons approaching India, power plants and steel units have already started stocking coal, which has lead to increase in demand.
