India: Current and projected pellet capacity in FY ’20

India’s current pellet capacity stands at 90 mn t which is expected to increase significantly in the next few years. In FY ’21 its is expected to increase by 19.5 mn t of which major contribution is likely from JSW Steel, about 16 mn t, and AM/NS about 2 mn t. The capacity would further increase by around 20.3 mn t in FY ’22 with majority of production expected from Triveni at 8 mn t. Similarly for fiscal FY ’23, total output is likely to see an increase by 56 mn t, as shown.
