OMC mulls Long Term Supply Pacts for Chrome Ore Supply

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government controlled miner Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) has expresses its willingness to enter into long-term contracts for supply of Chrome ore.

This is a part of the draft framework prepared by OMC for formulating a long term linkage policy for supply of Iron ore & Chrome ore to the state based industries. The Cabinet Committee on Investments of Odisha Government which is in the process of formulating the policy has earlier asked OMC to submit a draft framework on long term linkage policy and it is learned that the miner has submitted the draft last week.

OMC is currently selling Chrome ores to the Odisha based and outside buyers through the e-auction platform. Initially, the PSU miner could sign long term supply pacts with Odisha based Chrome units only. Also, the Chrome ore to be supplied through long term agreements would be separate from the amounts sold in e-auction route.

OMC has already long term supply pacts with Bhushan Steel & Adhunik Metalics for supply of Iron ore.

He said that OMC is already supplying about 90% of its Iron ore and 80-85% of its Chrome ore to the Odisha based industries.
