With temporary supply shortage, pig iron prices are likely to remain strong in eastern region. As per market sources report, Durgapur based Neo Metaliks has put it’s plant on regular maintenance shutdown for coming few days, hence there may be limited offers by the producer. This may result in supply shortage as the producer is one of the active suppliers in the spot market. Daily production loss is highlighted at around 700 t. The current reference price of steel grade pig iron in Durgapur is reported at INR 34,500-600/t exw.
