India’s total Coking Coal imports decrease by 36.9% to about 0.44 MnT during the week ended on 15 Feb, 2014.
SteelMint assessed that India has imported around 0.44 MnT of Coking Coal at the end of week 7, which has fell from 0.69 MnT of preceding week. Out of the total imported Coal, around 13% was Coking Coal received from different destination. Most of the Coking Coal is imported from countries like Australia, South Africa & Russia.
Out of the total weekly imports, India has imported around 0.28 MnT of Coking Coal from Australia and 0.15 MnT from South Africa & Russia.

Considering 33 major and minor Indian ports, Vizag has imported maximum quantity i.e. around 0.13 MnT of Coal in Week 7. The quantity was imported by SAIL & Jayaswal Neco. The second highest quantity imported on Mormugao port i.e. 0.12 MnT of Coking Coal belongs to JSW Steels.
SteelMint assessed that SAIL & JSW Steels are the major importers of Coking Coal last week. SAIL has imported about 0.15 MnT of Coking Coal from Australia on Haldia, Paradip & Vizag Port. However, JSW Steels has imported around 0.13 MnT from Australia on Mormugao & New Mangalore port.
The ports considered are: Dahej, Mormugao, Navlakhi, Mundra, Mumbai, New Mangalore, Hazira, Kandla, Bedi, Porbander, Dahanu, Dharmatar PnP, Dharamtar Ispat, Tuticorin, Jaigarh, Dighi, Revdanda, Magdalla, Pipavav GPPL, UTCL- Pipavav, Sanghi, Sikka, Okha, Muldwarka, Dhamra, Ennore, Gangavaram, Haldia, Krishnapatnam, Kakinada, Paradip, Vizag and Karaikal.
