ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India)- an Indian steel major has recorded iron ore and pellet sourcing of 1 mn t in Oct’20, up 42% as against 0.71 mn t in Sep’20. Apart from company’s domestic iron ore sourcing, it’s pellet import volumes have also witnessed an increase.
Iron ore procurement from NMDC (C.G.) up 40% for the month
Steelmaker procured 533,155 t of iron ore in Oct’20 from NMDC’s Bailadila mines (Chhattisgarh) via a slurry pipeline, against Sep’20 at 381,000 mn t.
Sourcing from Odisha merchant mines increased 35% in Oct’20
The company sourced 246,241t iron ore from Odisha’s merchant mines, rise of 35% m-o-m against Sep sourcing at 181,829 t.
Sourcing from OMC increased sharply to 24,820 t for the month as compared to 6,978 t in Sep’ 20.
Out of the total iron ore sourced from Odisha merchant mines in Oct’20, the largest share was contributed by Serajuddin mines at 174,080 t, followed by Rungta mines at 44,610 t.
Imports up on tighter domestic availability
The company has increased pellet import volumes to 199,670 t in Oct’20 against 138,200 t in Sept’20, according to customs data maintained with SteelMint. The entire quantity of pellet imported was from Bahrain. The steelmaker is likely to import some volumes of iron ore in Nov’20 too from Ukraine & Australia. The company’s captive iron ore production fell to 0.16 mn t in Sept’20.
