India’s thermal coal imports from Indonesia stood at 8.21 mn t in Se’20 against 9.65 mn t in Sep’19 (-15% y-o-y) amid increased competition from domestic coal supplied by Coal India. In Sep’20, CIL’s coal production has recorded a surge of 31% y-o-y at 40.5 mn t whereas CIL’s coal dispatch to power sector has increased by 32% y-o-y at 35.7 mn t.
