JFE Steel has achieved full chromite-free production of hot-dip galvanized steel sheets, the company said in its press release. The company said that it will now discontinue production of sheets treated with hexavalent chromium, an environment hazardous substance. JFE Steel is the second largest steelmaker in Japan, having 33 mn t pa of crude steel capacity. The company expects 20% decline in crude steel output to 22 mn t in FY’21.
