Japan’s total steel consumption (from both domestic and overseas consumers) has declined by 23.5% y-o-y to 16.67 mn t during Apr-Jul’20, according to the recent data by Japan Iron and Steel Federation (JISF). Consumption fell due to slow demand in construction & automobile sectors. Domestic steel consumption fell by 24.8% y-o-y to 10.43 mn t during this period.
