Nepal’s flat steel imports registered 20% drop during Jan-Jul ’20 at 303,473 t as compared to 377,779 t during Jan-Jul ’19. Imports from India (the largest flat steel exporter to Nepal) declined by 9% y-o-y to 288,867 t against 316,945 t. Imports in Jul ’20 picked up on improved demand and was recorded 58,220 t, up 27% m-o-m, of which India itself accounted for nearly 95% of total imports i.e. 55,192 t.
