Bhushan Steel: Iron Ore & Pellet Sourcing Stable in Dec’19

Bhushan Steel – a major integrated steel maker with a capacity of 5.6 MnT has recorded iron ore & pellet sourcing at 0.42 MnT in Dec’19, stable on monthly basis.

Bhushan steel total iron ore sourcing for the month stood at 0.40 MnT, down marginally against 0.41 MnT in Nov’19.

Tata Steel supplies dropped by 5% for the month to 0.35 MnT as against 0.37 MnT a month ago.

State owned miner- OMC supplied 50,947 MT iron ore to the steel maker in Dec’19, up 24% as compared to 41,090 MT in Nov’19. Sourcing from Serajuddin mines recorded nil since past two months.

Almost all the miners from Odisha increased iron ore fines and lumps offers in the last one month, fines by around INR 600-700/MT and in lumps around 1,000-1100/MT (Ex-mines). If market sources are to be believed, few major miners have already made aggressive bookings in last months as steel mills were actively restocking material ahead Mar’20 lease expiry. Also few mines are heard to have achieved EC limits for this fiscal. Hence, amid tight material availability miners are raising offers.

Bhushan Steel pellet sourcing up 67% in Dec’19
The pellet sourcing by the steel maker recorded at 19,250 MT for the month, as against 11,550 MT a month ago.
