Bhushan Steel: Iron Ore & Pellet Sourcing Up 14% to Feb’19

Bhushan Steel – a major integrated steel maker with a capacity of 5.6 MnT has recorded iron ore sourcing at 0.40 MnT in Feb’19. The sourcing increased 14% on monthly basis as against 0.35 MnT in Jan’19. Iron ore procurement from Tata Steel down 24% M-o-M.

State owned miner- OMC stood the largest supplier at 0.16 MnT of iron to the miner up 30% on monthly basis as compared to 0.13 MnT in Jan’19.

Tata Steel supplies of iron ore to Bhushan Steel for the month dropped 24% to 0.10 MnT as against 0.13 MnT in Jan’19.

Sourcing from Indrani Patnaik increased 33% to 0.09 MnT compared to 0.07 MnT a month ago.

Bhushan Steel sourcing from Serajuddin increased sharply to 18,532 MT against 3,845 MT last month. This is owing to production ramp up at Serajuddin mines post resumption of operation from its new pit.

Bhushan Steel pellet procurement recorded nil in Feb’19

Bhushan Steel pellet procurement stood nil for third consecutive month in Feb’19.

Tata Steel BSL is focusing on ramp up to full capacity with an estimated time of around 24 months. Comapny is planning to expand Bhushan steel capacity from 5.6 MnT to 8.3 MnT. They are also planning to enhance production at its captive iron ore mines around Jamshedpur and Kalinganagar. For FY19 (Apr-Dec), total crude steel production of Tata BSL witnessed at 3.1 Mnt, up 14% and hot rolled coil output at 2.9 MnT (up 16%).
