Pt Kaltim Prima Coal targets to produce 60 MnT of coal in CY19, a tad higher than its 58 MnT in actual output in 2018, Kontan reported citing Dileep Srivastava, director of the company as saying on Sunday.
Kaltim Prima’s coal output last year accounted for around 11% of the total combined output by Indonesian coal miners. Total coal output by the Indonesian coal miners was 528 MnT in 2018.
The company, better known as KPC, had made USD 3.85 Billion in coal sales during 2018. With rising coal output this year, the company should make more foreign exchange earning from its sale.
“Logically, the coal sales should be higher than that of last year, ”Srivastava said.
The bulk or 75% of Kaltim Prima Coal’s output were sold to Japan, China and India, Srivastava said.
Kaltim Prima Coal is a coal unit of PT Bumi Resources.
Earlier, PT Bumi Resources other coal unit, PT Arutmin Indonesia, had vowed to raise its coal output by 10% to 31.9 MnT this year.
