Indian metallurgical coal imports have fallen by 35.46% to 3.16 million tonnes (MnT) in Sep’18, as compared to 4.90 MnT in Aug’18, as per the vessel lineup data compiled by CoalMint Research.
Moreover, on a year-on-year basis, the Sep’18 imports have decreased by 29.62% from 4.49 MnT in Sep’17.

Furthermore, on a year-to-date basis, India’s coking coal imports have totaled 38.58 MnT in the first nine months of this year during Jan’18-Sep’18, up 2.75% compared with 37.54 MnT of coking coal imports in the corresponding period of the previous year, Jan’17-Sep’17.
PRICE ASSESSMENTS
The latest price for the Premium HCC grade is assessed at around USD 216.25/MT FOB Australia, higher by about USD 3.25/MT than the average price of around USD 213/MT in the week gone by (1-7 Oct’18).
Latest import offers for the 64 Mid Vol HCC grade are assessed at around USD 180/MT FOB Australia.
For Indian buyers, the above offers amount to USD 233/MT and USD 196.75/MT respectively on CNF India basis.
