Billet exports from the top exporter – Russia, registered a slight downfall of about 2.20% M-o-M in Jul’18 & recorded 3 month low, as per custom data maintained by SteelMint stats.
As per SteelMint’s statistics report, the nation has exported around 1.33 MnT billet in the month of Jul’18 against 1.36 MnT in Jun’18. Prior to this, on M-o-M in Jun’18 it decreased about 1% against 1.37 MnT in May’18. On yearly premises, billet exports incline by 21% in Jul’18 against 1.10 MnT in Jul’17.
The fall in exports attributes that Russian government majorly looking for the development of infrastructure. Also currency Lira depreciation results to decline in Russia’s export volumes in Jul’18.
Further, in the first seven months of CY18 (Jan-Jul), Billet exports inclined marginally by 14.59% to 9.50 MnT against 8.29 MnT in same preceding CY17. On yearly calculations, the Billet export was around 14.38 MnT in CY17 (Jan-Dec) & in CY 2016 at 15.16 MnT.
Taiwan has imported approximately 27.06% (0.36 MnT) billet from Russia and maintains the top number in July 2018, followed by Mexico (0.27 MnT) & Turkey (0.15 MnT). Taiwan was imported around 23.64% of the total billet exported by Russia in the CY18 (Jan-Jul).
According to World Steel Association, Russia’s crude steel production recorded at 42.09 MnT during Jan-Jul’18 as against 41.25 MnT during same period last year.
As per the SteelMint’s assessment, the export offers of 150*150 IS 2830 grade billet are currently at USD 490-500/MT FoB India, 125*125 3SP at USD 475-485/MT FoB Ukraine & 125*125,3sp are at USD 490-495/MT CNF Turkey.
— During the July 2018, Russia’s ferrous scrap exports recorded at 0.48 MnT, which has increased 11% M-o-M as against 0.44 MnT in Jun’18.
— As per the sources, Russian billet was available in Philippines at USD 530-535/MT on CFR basis.
— Sources reported, a deal concluded for a lot of about 50,000 MT of Ukrainian billet was reported at USD 480/MT FoB Black Sea to Southeast Asia.
