Russia, world’s largest exporter of billets from CIS nations and has been actively involved for exports, the billet exports from the nation inclined by 13.63% Y-o-Y in H1 (Jan-Jun) CY18.
As per custom data maintained with SteelMint, Russia has exported around 8.17 MnT billet in H1 CY18 against 7.19 MnT in H1 CY17.
The key reason behind the rising billet exports are production curtailment in China which has narrowed down Billet supply globally. Hence buyers turns for alternates resulting boost in exports of across major export countries.
In the first half of 2018, Taiwan remained the prime spot for Russian billet exports as it imported near about 23.09% which stood at 1.89 MnT, followed by Mexico – second largest imported around 1.29 MnT which accounts 15.82% to total billet exports from Russia.
While, on monthly premises, Russia’s billet exports are reported at 1.36 MnT in Jun’18 as against 1.37 MnT in May’18, slightly down. Further on yearly comparison, billet exports surge by 21.42% in Jun’18 against 1.12 MnT in Jun’17.
In Jun’18, Taiwan has imported approximately 24.26% (0.33 MnT) billet from Russia. In line Mexico at 0.24 MnT (17.64%), Turkey at 0.17 MnT (12.50%) and Belgium at 0.13 MnT (9.55%).
The export price assessment for billets stood at USD 490-500/MT FoB India (150*150mm IS 2830), USD 470-480/MT FoB Ukraine (125*125 3SP) & USD 485-500/MT CNF Turkey for 125*125mm.
