India: SAIL Re-Issues 18,900 MT Billet Export Tender on Fresh Buying Interest from Traders

Steel Authority of India – a government of India Company has re-issued export tenders for billet with the revised quantity of 18,900 MT which is due on 07 Aug’18.

The cargo will be shipped from Haldia port. The tender put up for Prime Mild Steel Non-Alloy Concast billets are 8,100 MT (125*125mm) offered from Durgapur Steel plant and 10,800 MT (150*150mm) from IISCO Steel plant and has following specifications –

The last tender floated by the SAIL for export of 16,200 MT billets which was due on 27 Jul’18 was canceled, as per sources. As per sources reported to SteelMint, the company got the bids in the range of USD 503-505/MT, FoB but the company was seeking higher bids. However according to the latest update received, in past few days company has received increased buying interest from traders at levels of USD 510/MT, FoB. It seems, on receiving increased interest from traders, the company has re-issued the tender.

The material shipping is scheduled within 30 Sep’18.The due date for bid submission is 17:00 hrs as per IST on 07 Aug’18.

Billet market overview:

1. Billet export offers from CIS nations have remained stable this week and are assessed around USD 500/MT, FoB Black Sea

2. Chinese domestic billet (150*150mm, Q235) prices increased to RMB 3,930/MT (including VAT) against RMB 3,810/MT a week ago.

3. Indian domestic billet prices have increased this week on increased inquiries and demand. Yesterday assessment for 125*125mm billet stood at INR 33,000-33,200/MT (USD 482-484) (ex-Mumbai, GST extra)
