Sweden: Iron Ore Export Drops 18% in Apr’18

Sweden is the third-largest iron ore exporter in Europe after Russia and Ukraine. It has exported 1.68 MnT iron ore in Apr’18. The exports witnessed 18% decline M-o-M basis as against exports of 2.06 MnT in Mar’18.

However, on yearly basis Sweden witnessed Apr’18 imports in line Apr’17 imports at 1.68 MnT.

For Jan-Apr’18, Sweden iron ore exports marked at 7.56 MnT, up marginally against 7.3 MnT for same duration last year (Jan-Apr’17).

In Apr’18, an agglomerated (pellets/concentrate) iron ore exports have recorded a decline of 13% M-o-M to 1.41 MnT against 1.62 MnT in Mar’18. However, on yearly basis exports have depicted stability against Apr’17 exports at 1.41 MnT.

The non-agglomerated (fines/lump) iron ore exports were down by 39% M-o-M to 0.27 MnT in Apr’18, against 0.44 MnT in Mar’18. However, on yearly basis exports were stable at 0.27 MnT.

Germany iron ore imports from Sweden down 35% M-o-M-:

Germany remained the largest importer of iron ore from Sweden at 0.53 MnT, contributing 32% share of total Sweden’s export. The import witnessed decline of 35% M-o-M as against being 0.82 MnT in Mar’18. Turkey stood the second largest iron ore importer at 0.17 MnT (down 32% M-o-M)

United States and Belgium marked significant rise in monthly imports at 0.17 MnT (up 70% M-o-M) and 0.16 MnT (up 60% M-o-M) respectively.
