Disruption in Hyundai Steel Dangjin Plant Halts Billet and Rebar Production

According to the market sources, billet and rebar production in Hyundai Steel’s Dangjin Plant in South Korea has come to a halt due to the problem with ladle cover of steel mill line that occurred on 8 May’18. Although no massive equipment failure or human casualty is reported, the company’s billet production stopped and company’s rerolling line also halted on 10 May’18.

The defaulted line which is experiencing problem plans to complete its maintenance activity till 16 May’18 which means company’s billet production will be stalled for one week and rerolling line will also be difficult to operate till that date.

However, the resumption of rebar production at the Dangjin plant can be flexible depending upon the situation.

The company’s Dangjin plant has billet and rebar monthly manufacturing capacity of more than 20,000 tonnes each. Hyundai Steel currently operates three furnaces with a combined production capacity of 12 MnT.
