According to the Japanese customs, the country witnessed a substantial fall of 72% M-o-M in its Manganese Ore imports.
Japan imported 46,340 MT in Mar’18 against 163,948 MT in Feb’18. Moreover, on yearly basis, Japanese Manganese Ore imports decreased by 58% as it imported 109,865 MT in Mar’17.
South Africa, being the largest exporter of Manganese Ore to Japan, witnessed a massive decrease of 87% M-o-M in its export volume followed by Australia. Logistical issues in South Africa could be attributed to such a decrease in its Manganese Ore exports coupled with limited demand for manganese alloys in Japan.
