World Crude Steel Output Fall by 9% in Feb’18

According to the recent data released by World Steel Association (WSA),the total crude steel production of 66 steel manufacturing countries moved down by 9.02% on monthly basis to 131.79 MnT in Feb’18 in comparison to 144.86 MnT in Jan’18.

On yearly basis world crude steel output increased by 4% in Feb’18 as compared to 127.33 MnT in Feb’17.

During first two months (Jan-Feb) of CY18 world crude steel output was recorded at 276.66 MnT,higher by 4% against 265.92 MnT in similar time frame of previous year.

China’s crude steel output move down by 10% M-o-M in Feb’18 – China’s crude steel output witness decline of 10% on monthly basis and stood at 64.93 MnT in Feb’18 against 71.88 MnT in Jan’18. However on yearly basis,China’s crude steel production surged by 6% in Feb’18 as compared to 61.32 MnT in Feb’17.

Japan’s crude steel production fell by 8% M-o-M in Feb’18 – In Jan’18, nation’s crude steel output declined by 8% M-o-M basis to 8.29 MnT in Feb’18 against 9.03 MnT in Jan’18. However on yearly basis,nation’s crude steel output decline marginally by 1% in Feb’18 against 8.34 MnT in Feb’17.

India’s crude steel output decline by 7% M-o-M in Feb’18 – According to data released by World Steel Association,India’s crude steel output stood at 8.43 MnT,fell by 7% M-o-M basis in Feb’18 against 9.02 MnT in Jan’18.However on yearly basis India’s crude steel output edged up by 3.4% in Feb’18 which was 8.15 MnT in Feb’17.

South Korea crude steel output plunged 14% M-o-M in Feb’18-South Korea’s crude steel production was recorded at 5.41 MnT plunged by 14% M-o-M in Feb’18 against 6.29 MnT in Jan’18. On yearly basis,South Korea crude steel output move down by 2% in Feb’18 against 5.52 MnT in Feb’17.

Crude steel production of other top steel producing countries in month of Feb’18 is as follows United States (6.44 MnT, down 7% M-o-M), Russia: 5.15 MnT (down 11% M-o-M) Brazil: 2.71 MnT (down 5.2% M-o-M) ,Turkey 3.17 MnT (down 3%M-o-M) and Germany 3.34 MnT (down 10%M-o-M).
