Taiwan has recorded an increase in imports by 62% M-o-M to 2.31 MnT in Jan’18 as against 1.43 MnT in Dec’17. However, the Y-o-Y imports witnessed a decline of 8% in Jan’18 as against 2.5 MnT in Jan’17.
The Non-agglomerated ore (Lump and Fines) witnessed a rise of 54% M-o-M to 1.9 MnT in Jan’18 as against 1.23 MnT in Dec’17. It recorded a decline of 9% in Y-o-Y imports as against 2.09 MnT in Jan’17.
Agglomerated ore (pellets and concentrates) imports in Jan’18 recorded increase to twice the imports in Dec’17. The imports in Jan’18 stood at 0.4 MnT against 0.2 MnT in Dec’17. The Y-o-Y change in Jan’18 witnessed marginal decline in imports as against 0.41 MnT in Jan’17.
Australia contributed more than half of Taiwan’s total iron ore imports:
Australia continues to be the largest exporter of iron ore to Taiwan in Jan’18 at 1.25 MnT (up 10% M-o-M), contributing 54% of total Taiwan’s imports share. Brazil stood second largest exporter at 0.64 MnT (up more than twice M-o-M) followed by Canada at 0.42 MnT.
