The Anthracite Coal market in India has remained lackluster in the absence of demand. As the Indian buyers prefer alternate fuels over the coal variant, there has almost been no demand for Anthracite Coal in the Indian market.
International offers have nevertheless gone up recently by meager rates as the Met Coke prices are at high rates. With the speculated fall in the Met Coke prices in the near future due to the declining Coking Coal prices, prices of Anthracite Coal also are also likely to come down in the coming days. There is a co-relation between the coal prices and Met Coke prices as Anthracite Coal also could be used for coking purposes during steel making.
The latest Anthracite Coal offer was assessed at around USD 147/MT CFR India, which was up by around USD 2/MT over the week-ago offer.

As a sequel of the sluggish demand, Anthracite Coal imports in India have been insignificant. According to the data compiled by CoalMint Research, only one import consignment of 16,910 MT, imported by Rawmet, has arrived at the Haldia port during the current month.
