The tenth largest importer of Iron ore, Turkey has recorded decline in M-o-M iron ore imports in Jan’18. The imports witnessed at 0.92 MnT in Jan’18 as against 1.21 MnT in Dec’17. The Y-o-Y imports recorded a decline of 12% in Jan’18 as against 1.04 MnT in Jan’17.
Turkey’s crude steel output fell slightly from 3.27 MnT in Dec’17 to 3.17 MnT in Jan’18, down 3% M-o-M. Output from blast furnaces stood at 1.013 MnT in Jan’18.
The non-agglomerated ore (Lumps and Fines) witnessed decline of 41% M-o-M to 0.41 MnT in Jan’18 as against 0.7 MnT in Dec’17. The Y-o-Y imports witnessed a decline of 25% in Jan’18 as against 0.55 MnT in Jan’17.
Agglomerated ore (pellets and concentrates) recorded no change in monthly imports at 0.51 MnT for Jan’18. However, import was up 6% Y-o-Y in Jan’18 as compared to Jan’17 which stood at 0.48 MnT.
Country-wise Turkey Iron Ore Imports:
Brazil continued to be the largest exporter of iron ore to Turkey in Jan’18 at 0.34 MnT (down 44% M-o-M), contributing 37% of total share in Turkey iron ore imports, followed by Sweden 0.24 MnT (stable M-o-M) and Russia 0.17 MnT (down 6%).
Turkey imported 0.07 MnT iron ore from Canada in Jan’18, which was nil a month before.
