Iran: Finished Steel Output Up 9% Y-o-Y in first 10 Months of Current Persian Year

Iran’s steel sector is growing at a faster rate raising output to 55 MnT per year is on track. Iran aims to become the world’s sixth largest steel producer as per its 20-Year Vision Plan (2005-25), which envisions an annual production of 55 MnT of crude steel and 20-25 million tons of exports per year.

According to recent data released, Iran’s finished steel production witnessed surge of 9% to 16.39 MnT in current Persian year (21st Mar’17-21st Jan’18) in comparison with 15 MnT in corresponding time frame of preceding year.

Product-wise finished steel production in first ten months of Persian Year
1. During first ten months of Persian year production of beam reported rise of 5% to 0.9 MnT against 0.86 MnT in similar time frame of previous year.

2. Similarly production of rebar registered the decline of 7% on yearly basis to 5.16 MnT which was 5.54 MnT in first ten months of previous year.

3. However production of HRC stood at 6.4 MnT , inched up by 10% while that of CRC was recorded at 1.95 MnT jumped by 26% against 1.55 MnT in first 10 months of Persian year.

4. Meanwhile production of coated sheet also shown significant hike of 42% to 1.25 MnT in first 10 months which was recorded at 0.88 MnT in similar time period of previous year.
