As per the recent data released by Joint Plant Committee, Finish long (Bar & rods and Structures) steel production in India by both large and medium/small scale producers stood at 44.86 MnT in 2017.
The production surged up by 5.18% Y-o-Y in 2017 against 42.65 MnT in 2016. Further, on monthly basis i:e; Dec’17 it gains by around 2% with 3.72 MnT compared with 3.65 MnT in Dec’16.
On monthly analysis in Dec’17, Finish long production by the large scale makers i:e; SAIL registered around 0.38 MnT (10.21%) followed by RINL 0.36 MnT (9.67%), JSW 0.22 MnT (5.91%), Tata Steel 0.19 MnT (5.10%) and JSPL 0.10 MnT (2.68%).
The inclined production can be considered to acquire export view with globally supportive demand of finished long products due to lack of Chinese supplies on capacity limitations.
Further, there was improved demand in Far East Countries and it remained one of the favorable options along with Middle East for Indian long steel exports.
SAIL (Steel Authority of India Ltd), remains the largest producer on yearly basis and registered 4.53 MnT with more than 10%, followed by RINL 3.68 MnT (8.20%) and Tata Steel 3.22 MnT (7.18%).
