Ukraine Billet Exports Decline 10% in August 2017 – Customs Data

Ukraine, one of the largest semi finished exporter, has exported about 370,000 MT Billet in August 2017, according to trade statistics released by Department State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

The exports registered a downfall of 9.75% M-o-M in Aug’17 against 410,000 MT in Jul’17. During Aug’17, Italy has imported approximately 35% (130,000 MT) billets from Ukraine.

Further, in the duration of CY17 (Jan- Aug), the country’s total export for billet was at an around 3.84 MnT.

In the month of August 2017, the crude steel production of Ukraine was around 1.80 MnT and in CY17(Jan-Aug) it was approximately 14.57 MnT. Prior to this it was at 24.23 MnT in CY16 & 22.97 MnT in CY15.

Country wise:

During August 2017, the largest importer of Ukrainian originated billet was Italy, Egypt & Turkey which imports about 130,000 MT, 90,000 MT & 80,000 MT respectively.

Similarly, in the total billet exports during 2017 (Jan-Aug), the major buyers of Ukrainian billet was – Italy 1.13 MnT (29.40%), Turkey 0.78 MnT (20.30%), Egypt 0.62 MnT (16.22%) & Algeria 0.34 MnT (8.87%) .

1. The export offers of 150*150 IS 2830 grade billet are currently at USD 470-475/MT FoB India, 125*125 3SP at USD 465-475/MT FoB Ukraine & 150*150 Q235 are at USD 500-520/MT FoB China.

2. As per the sources, last week a large cargo of Ukraine-origin billet have concluded to Egypt at USD 465/MT FoB Black Sea

3. Last week, few cargoes of Russia-origin billet heard to have booked for Egypt at USD 490/MT CFR or USD 465-470/MT FoB.
