According to the South African customs, the country has witnessed a substantial increase of 21% M-o-M in its Ferro Alloy exports.
In Sep’17, South Africa exported a total of 3.29 MnT Ferro Alloys, Manganese Ore and Chrome Ore against 2.72 MnT in Aug’17. Moreover, on yearly basis, there has been a substantial increase of 31% Y-o-Y in its export volume which stood at 2.51 MnT in Sep’16.
Manganese Ore occupied the major volume of South African exports at 1.64 MnT in Sep’17, registering a substantial increase of 46% M-o-M. However, Ferro Chrome exports witnessed a significant decrease of 27% M-o-M in Sep’17. While, Chrome Ore exports stood at 1.36 MnT in Sep’17, witnessing an increase of 11% M-o-M against Aug’17. Silico Manganese export by South Africa remained flat at 0.01 MT in Sep’17, similar to that in Aug’17.
China remains the largest importer of South African Ferro Alloys and Ores at 1.77 MnT in Sep’17, recording an increase of 21% against 1.46 MnT in Aug’17. In Sep’17, Mozambique was the second largest importer of South African Ferroalloys (including Manganese Ore and Chrome Ore) at 0.40 MnT while India, being the third largest importer, imported 0.27 MnT.
