In the Guangdong province of China, 6.74 MnT of coal was imported during Sep’17, according to the latest data released by the China Customs. An analysis of the data shows that the import volume during the month was higher by 37.74% against Aug’17; and also was up by 33.5% over Sep’16.
A break-up of the total imports shows that the Thermal Coal imports were at 5.53 MnT in the month; up by 20.56% against the previous month. Coking Coal imports were higher by 303.61%, at 1.04 MnT, over on month-on-month basis.
During the Jan-Sep’17 period, the total coal imports were at 44.87 MnT, which was more by 18.16% against the imports in the same period of the preceding year. During the first nine months of the current year, the Thermal Coal imports in the Chinese region were higher by 18.11%, at 39.21 MnT, against the Jan-Sep’16 period. On a year-on-year comparison, Coking Coal imports during the period were at 4.91 MnT, up by 15.43%.
