40,000 MT Pig Iron Export Tender by MMTC

MMTC, India’s largest and state owned trading house, issued an export tender of 40,000 MT non-alloy Pig iron on behalf of Neelachal Ispat Nigam Limited (NINL). The tender is scheduled on 3 Mar’16.

Synopsis of the tender

Material: Non-alloy Pig iron
Origin: Indian
Quantity: Firm lot- 30,000 MT; Optional lot-10,000 MT
Loading port: Paradip Port, India
Shipment period: During 14 Mar-24 Mar’16
Delivery basis: FOBST Paradip Port
Destination: Any country other than banned countries

Last date for bid submission is 3 Mar’16 at 14.30 hrs. Technical bids are scheduled on the same day at 14.45 hrs. Also, price bids will open on the same day at 16.30 hrs.

Pig iron exports from India drops, rise from Russia and Brazil in 2015

In 2015, Indian Pig iron exports was recorded at 420,500 MT, a drop by 40% Y-o-Y against 741,000 MT in 2014. However, despite poor sentiments in global market, Russian and Brazilian Pig iron exports inched up by around 15% and 6.5% respectively.

Russia exported 4.7 MnT in 2015 against 4.1 MnT in 2014. Top export destination for Russia were US, Spain, Italy, Turkey and Taiwan. On similar lines, Brazil exported around 2.75 MnT in 2015 against 2.58 MnT in 2014. Alike Russia, majority of Brazilian Pig iron had been exported to US.

Another export tender of 30,000 MT pig iron which was floated by RINL, has been extended up to 19 Feb’16.

Specification of the item of RINL tender:

1. Basic grade steel making pig iron
2.  Carbon: 3.5-4.5%
3. Manganese: 0.5% max
4. Silicon: 1.0% max
5. Phosphorus: 0.12% max
6. Sulphur: 0.05% max

The validity of the offer is up to 26th Feb’16 and the date of delivery is 31st Mar’16
