3 lac tons of Iron ore exported from Dhamra Port till Nov 12

Bhubaneswar: Dhamra Port, jointly
promoted by Tata Steel and L&T has exported 301,910 tons of iron ore since commencement of its operation in May 2011 till November 2012.

During the same time period, 12,331,092 tons of coal and
limestone were also imported, according to the data availed from state Commerce and Transport
department.

However, the port has recorded a
declining trend in iron ore exports, after the closure of mines due to the cases
of illegal mining and high export duty.

With least possibility of an improved situation in near future, L&T has already made it clear that
it'll exit from the company by the end of March.

Both L&T and Tata Steel with
50:50 stakes each, finalised a $1billion deal with Adani Group in January, for
sale of stake.

The port has been made under built-own-operate-Share and
Transfer model with a concession from the Odisha government for 34 years.

With
the acquisition of Dharma port, Adani group will have a footprint in the
strategically important east coast region.
