-Indian Finish long steel imports were up 22% in the mentioned time frame. Rebar imports were mostly stable, however Wire Rod & Structure imports observed sharp increase. As per data, BHEL imported around 26,000 MT H-Beam from South Korea at Chennai port during Jan-Sept’18.
-Indian finish flat imports stood at 4.45 MnT in Jan-Sep’18 fell by 4% against similiar time frame.Meanwhile imports of HRC stood at 1.85 MnT in Jan-Sep’18 against 1.91 MnT in Jan-Sep’17.However South Korea,Japan and China continued to be the major flat steel exporters to India in Jan-Sep’18.
-Manganese ore imports to India have come down by 9.5% Y-o-Y to 1.99 MnT in Jan-Sept’18. High global manganese ore prices and depreciating Indian currency made imports costlier which resisted import volumes.
